Chapter 14
False alarm

I don’t think I mentioned this before, but in case someone reading this isn’t familiar with Chinese literature/comics/etc: surname comes before the first name. So, for example, Li Bing comes from the Li family (the emperor’s family, actually). In general, there are a lot of ways to address someone, with varying degrees of respect, familiarity, etc. Not all of them are obviously translatable, but people can be addressed by title, honorific, position, full name, nickname, some variation of the above… Again, take Li Bing - there’s his position (vice minister), title (commandery prince), various honorifics and/or nicknames (大人 (Dàrén) - I usually translate it as either Lord or Sir, 猫爷 (Māo yé) - I think it hasn’t appeared in the manhua yet, but it’s “cat lord”) and probably other ways to address him that I can’t remember off the top of my head.
